Baby Girl Rosell

Baby Girl Carly arrived on Thursday, January 21st. She was 7 lbs 13 oz, 20.5 inches long.

We had our last appt on Tuesday and the week before I had gained 8 lbs and i was swollen from the waist down. I was dilated to a 3 and Dr said if I wasn't in labor by Thursday I could come in and he would induce. So, with that I had two days to clean, wash, and get packed.

About an hour after our appt, Joni, my mom, and me went to LA to see the Bonnie Hunt Show. It was pouring, not just raining, but pouring. Joni had oral surgery the day before, Mom doesn't go out in rain, and then I, the 9 month pregnant lady, drove us through the "craziest" storm LA has seen (we even had tornado warnings) to see Bonnie Hunt. None of us should have left the house but it was my last adventure before the baby.

About the time we got in for the taping, contractions were coming pretty steadily. I was relieved when we made it into my car and they started to slow down a bit. I started to have them about twice an hour from then on out.

Labor:
2am - contractions woke me up
5am - 5 minutes apart, panic mode - to the hospital
7am - IV inserted for my antibiotics
8am - contractions dead stop
9am - Pitocin, Nurse Judy - stories about dogs, neighbors, grandkids and johnny texting on two iphones while killing me on scrabble iphone
10am-contracts are back and are mean. tried to read Johnny's trashy mag he got me - called get skinny fast! - he really apologized about the cover, but we had a good laugh about it. Water broke all over the bed and johnny had to grab towels to help the nurse escape the floods. trippy feeling.
11am - epidural, anthesiologist was a crack up, telling me kelsey should steal the hospital gowns with the boob holes and make a pattern for those. so funny. Sleepy time and playing scrabble with Kelsey via iphone, she's killing me..
12:00 - There is a huge brick in my pelvis and my stomach has completely shifted two inches down. doing pelvic exercises to get the baby to turn her head.
1:00 - I'm an 8, Extreme pelvic pressure, Nurse had me push to see if the baby would come, she did. Bed disappears, Dr and Baby nurse called and Johnny and the Nurse coach me to push at 1:38. 1:45 Dr arrives, head is halfway out and the very cute Baby Nurse who Johnny loved told me one more 110% push and she's out....JUST ONE MORE.
20 mins later - and what it felt like a million LAST pushes later, she arrives at 2:12.
No Name baby is no longer, both Johnny and I knew Carly was her name when we saw her.

Recovery: all I can say is thank goodness I'm on maternity leave and have family around. Its exhausting but we are completely smitten with our new baby girl. She is the sweetest gift we could have ever received.

thanks for this blog...I felt like I was apart of her birth!

I cannot beleive you drove to LA in the rain...9 months pregnant! But how fun to see the Bonnie Hunt show! (I would of done the same thing!)

I love the pictures but my very favorite is the one of you holding her...so precious. The picture of her daddy holding her is presious too, she has a little smile on her face.

Love the story! I had to get induced with Denali and they told me one more push for two hours until they finally vacuumed her out because she was so big. If you are up to it, we'll stop by for a short visit when we are in California Saturday-Thursday. Can't wait to see you and your cute baby girl!!

Love your play by play of the day. Made me laugh. Does it make me want to get pregnant? No. But your sweet pictures of you and Johnny holding Carly make me want a newborn again! If only I didn't have to do the pregnancy part. Can't wait to come hold her.
